Here is our book summary for this week.
Our favorite was The Seven Silly Eaters by Marla Frazee. It is written in verse, which is fun to read. Also, the pictures are hilarious for kids and adults. Mrs. Peters has seven children in as many years, and they are all picky eaters. She starts out catering to them cheerfully, but by the end of the book, she is frazzled and worn out. To me, a good read-aloud, like this one, is entertaining to reader and readee (Don't look up readee. It's not in there.)
Thing1's summary of The Seven Silly Eaters: They were so funny! They ate so crazy. The pictures are really funny.
Thing2 is currently outside in his underwear squirting water from a spray bottle. More from him later.
Another good one is ZooZical by Judy Sierra, Illustrated by Marc Brown. The kids' favorite part was "Oh my darling, Oh my darling, Oh my darling porcupine."
The one that didn't work for us was Lyle Finds his Mother by Bernard Waber. Maybe it is because we haven't read any previous Lyle books. Maybe the boys aren't old enough for it. Mainly, it was not fun for this reader, so we did not finish it. I still plan on trying Lyle, Lyle Crocodile soon since it looks like it might introduce us to the characters a little better.
Happy Reading!
